Testament of House Vol.1
Ministry of Sound's Testament of House compilation. 2003.
The compilation is presented in a leather bound book-style case, with embossed gold gothic lettering.
It's rare that physical releases or artwork are as specifically christian as this, even though within the text there is no reference to God, Jesus or the bible. However, this is clearly supposed to mimic a bible or holy book of some description and uses overtly christian language in it's description (testament, enlightening). The music within contains some interesting examples of music that will eventually be presented on this blog in some form or within some discussion. Jasper Street Company's Another Day is a great example of explicitly christian house music (it was even released on God's Records) and references the Holy Spirit and being blessed within the lyrics.
Other tracks aren't so obviously christian but sonically use some quite common gospel tropes (organs, pianos, gospel vocal choirs etc.). There are two further releases in this series, both presented in a similar leather bound manner.
